Assembly District 24: More Democratic than ever

With the June voter registration numbers being reported by the Nevada Secretary of State, Assembly District 24 is now more Democratic than ever. In my first election in 2006, there were 6.7% more Democrats than Republicans. Now, with the 2008 election right around the corner, the advantage has almost doubled to 12.3%. What does that mean in raw numbers? Of the 23,705 voters in District 24, there are 2,875 more Democrats than Republicans, a gap that has steadily grown with each month’s report in 2008.

While this is great news for Team Bobzien as we head into the fall season in this my first re-election campaign, it is a dynamic that does not change my legislative service. Improving our health care system, bringing our schools into the 21st century to prepare students for tomorrow’s jobs, and protecting what we love about Nevada- these are not Democratic or Republican issues. They are Nevada issues.

I know this not just academically- I know it first hand. For weeks, I’ve been doing the most enjoyable part of my job: walking door to door talking with voters of all political persuasions to learn how I can be an even better representative. Thank you to everyone who’s opened their door to me. And to those with whom I’ve not yet spoken, I look forward to meeting you soon!

I’m honored to have the support of Democrats, Republicans and non-partisans alike and it’s my privilege to represent my neighbors in the Nevada Legislature.
