Who’s Your President? I need your help

I woke up late on Wednesday June the 6th. The closing of the legislative session had been a roller coaster, and for the previous 5 days, I think I’d only managed about 4 hours of sleep a night. Rising from bed close to noon, I managed to avoid tripping over the dog and made my way to the kitchen to brew up some coffee. Grading the legislators

The votes are in for the biennial survey of legislators’ performances by the Las Vegas Review Journal. At the end of every session, a survey form is sent to legislators, lobbyists and members of the media asking for an assessment of how each legislator did. Read the full post for some results.

An unplanned end to the session

“We’re on track, we’ll get this shut down by 10:45.” That was the message to me from a veteran lawmaker Monday night as we raced toward the 1 a.m. constitutionally-mandated deadline for the end of the session. The deals had been worked out, the bills primed for final voting, and everything was supposed to roll out smoothly, back and forth between the Senate and Assembly, following a road map that would lead us to the first conclusion of a session without going into a special session since 1999.

Legislature Passes Legislation Establishing a Registry for Living Wills

PRESS RELEASE: CARSON CITY—Legislation sponsored by Assemblyman David Bobzien (D-Reno) to create a voluntary online registry for living wills in the Secretary of State’s office has been approved by the Nevada Legislature and now goes to the Governor.

AB 217 becomes law

In the final days of the Legislature, Governor Jim Gibbons has signed into law AB 217. Representatives from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, the Nevada Conservation League and the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, all supporters of the legislation, were on hand for a signing ceremony yesterday morning in the Governor’s office.
