Net metering, wind energy measure passes the Assembly
AB 178, making it possible for larger renewable energy projects to contribute power to the grid, and creating incentives for wind power, passed out of the Assembly yesterday, 42 to 0.
After long negotiations, this legislation has pushed the envelope for other net metering bills this session in Carson City. Under the bill’s raises to caps on net metering, projects that power large buildings such as retail “box” stores, schools warehouses, etc., will soon be able to plug into the grid and contribute excess power to the grid for credits on the consumers’ power bills. This incentive is critical if we’re to develop renewable energy projects in Nevada and lead the way in renewable technology.
