Commerce and Labor: “Do pass as amended” on energy bill
After long negotiations with Sierra Pacific Resources, an amended version of my bill to expand the practice of net metering and create a wind power demonstration program was passed by the Assembly Commerce and Labor committee this afternoon. For more on AB 178, please check out my previous post on how it will expand renewable energy opportunities in Nevada.
A big thank you to all of the bills supporters for your hard work on hammering out the details on this legislation! Stay tuned as this bill moves to the Senate.

[…] After long negotiations, this legislation has pushed the envelope for other net metering bills thisĀ session in Carson City. Under the bill’s raises to caps on net metering, projects that power large buildings such as retail “box” stores, schools warehouses, etc., will soon be able to plug into the grid and contribute excess power to the grid for credits on the consumers’ power bills. This incentive is critical if we’re to develop renewable energy projects in Nevada and lead the way in renewable technology.
