Change of plans
In fifteen minutes, myself and 41 other members of the Nevada Assembly will be making our way to the chambers to introduce a batch of bills. Previously not on the schedule (our floor sessions are typically every day at 11am) this “overtime” session was announced at the conclusion of our morning session as necessary to get ahead of the wave of bills that will be coming out from drafting. Monday’s the deadline for legislators to introduce legislation and so we expect to see a large number of bills to be introduced over the next few days.
I was scheduled to be in Reno this evening to speak to a university class on energy policy, and had to cancel as soon as I realized I’d be in Carson a little longer today than I expected (apologies to you students!) Such is life during the legislative session.
I personally have only one more bill to introduce (which is back in drafting to fix a problem with the language) most likely tomorrow, so I’m not joining some of my colleagues as they dash around the building this afternoon looking for sponsor signatures. With almost all of my bills out from drafting, I’m feeling ahead of the game, but know that I can’t let up from the already fast pace- hearings and the deadline to get bills out of committee are right around the corner.
If you’re reading this having just got home from work (all one or two of you) be sure to tune in and watch the floor session online.

[…] I guess I knew this, but the Blogging Assemblyman reminded me that you can watch the legislature live if so inclined. […]
