Primary Night!

The polls are closed, our Get Out the Vote effort is over, and now about thirty of us (or maybe more) are anxiously awaiting the final numbers of the night. So far, it’s looking good…but David won’t pop the champagne quite yet. If you would like to watch the numbers from home, the Secretary of […]

New blog touts David

A new political blog, Nevada Up North, just posted a piece on David’s race, saying that by tomorrow evening, the campaign should be able to get ready for the general campaign. Up North states that David’s race is one to watch:
not because I expect it to be close come November but because Bobzien has the […]

Thank you volunteers

As I get ready to head out for some more walking ahead of Tuesday’s primary, what I’ve got on my mind is the incredible show of support I’ve received from so many volunteers willing to give of their time to help effect change for District 24. Winning the race one door at a time

I’d like to share with you an email I received from a voter who’s door I knocked on Monday night:
David,
You stopped by our house on Monday night…I just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with your energy and enthusiasm. It is easy in today’s world to forget that people running for office […]

On transparency in our political system

Erin Neff, writing for the Las Vegas Review Journal today, has an op-ed about the public’s right to know who contributes to political campaigns and how candidates spend their money. Today was the deadline for filing a contributions and expenditures report detailing how much money a candidate has raised, how much they’ve spent, and from whom and to whom. The idea behind this deadline is that it allows the voting public a minimum amount of time, one week, to review these filings, ideally online, before they cast their votes in the primary election.

If only it worked that way…

O’Brien Middle School visit

I had occasion yesterday to visit with students at O’Brien Middle School. Four classes had been given the assignment of writing a letter to me on one of four issues: the minimum age requirement to work, the minimum age requirement to drive, why North Valleys High School was a closed campus, and building a pool […]
