Lisa, myself and my mother-in-law Sue (pictured with me) went down to the Voter Registrar’s office to cast our vote yesterday in the Democratic primary. Afterward, we headed over to Record Street Cafe for some friends and live entertainment from Voting with Clowns (Thanks Baldo, Chris, Eduardo and Marrio!)
I encourage all of you to register […]

RGJ on David’s primary race

With a little more than two weeks until the primary, people are taking notice of David’s race. An article in the RGJ today highlights the differences between David Bobzien and his primary challenger, David Love (but were not sure about where the “southwest to central Reno” description came from.) David Bobzien stated, and we agree:
I […]

Podcasted

I spent the morning at Record Street Cafe with Mr. Jerz for my first ever podcast. Here’s Ryan’s take:
In what seems like a mad dash by local bloggers to amass the biggest fish in the pond, I offer my first submission – a podcast interview with David Bobzien. David is a Democrat running for Assembly […]

David’s race: one of the more interesting of the year

Local blog, Reno and Its Discontents, identified the Assembly race in District 24 (at the end of their must-read analysis) as one of the more interesting races in a seemingly “boring” year in Nevada politics. A strong first-time challenger up against a one-time Republican incumbent is definitely a race to watch. According to Monday Morning […]

Bobzien answers AAUW survey, Holcomb doesn’t

The American Association of University Women, “the nation’s leading advocate for education and equity for women and girls,” just published the results of their candidate survey. The questions covered a range of important issues from education to workplace equality. Each candidate running for Nevada State Assembly District 24 answered the survey, except for incumbent Brooks […]

We Love Nevada: Another fire season, and more impacts to Nevada’s wildlife

This morning’s Reno Gazette-Journal’s story about the Jackass Flat Fire’s impacts to sage grouse habitat in Nevada is incredibly timely given the number of conversations I’ve had at the door with sportsmen and people who treasure Nevada’s wildlife. Wildlife management in Nevada is a particularly tricky endeavor. Urban development, scarce water, and unrelenting wild fire seasons present challenges to the protection of habitat and sustaining of wildlife populations. Photo and more after the jump…

Primary early voting begins in ten days

Hard to believe, but early voting for the August 15th Primary Election begins in just ten days. The Registrar of Voters Office (on 9th Street between Wells and Sutro), the Northwest Library, and the North Valleys Library are just three of the places where you can cast your vote, at your convenience, beginning on Saturday, […]
