Happy New Year… and a flood report
Happy New Year and the best to you and your family in 2006! Lisa and I took some time out from our holiday relaxing on New Year’s Eve to check out the flooding downtown. Thank goodness it didn’t turn out as damaging here in Reno as the ‘97 floods. Nonetheless, our thoughts go out to everyone who’s experienced property damage from the flooding throughout northern Nevada.
Here are some photos from Saturday’s scare along the river, including: ducks slightly confused by the rising water, sandbags Lisa and I helped put in place to protect the McKinley Arts Center, and a view of the berm between the Truckee and Riverside Drive that a few hours before had been covered by the river’s overflow.
