How the Internet helps us deal with health care

A recently released report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project (pdf) offers a snapshot of how much our world has been changed by the Internet. The report bases its findings on a survey of Americans asking how they interact with the social networks they’ve built with other individuals.

I had occasion last night to attend the 18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Dinner. The evening was full of great entertainment and showcased some wonderful young people who are the future of our community.

News tonight on drug importation

Thanks go out tonight to the members of the State Pharmacy Board for their movement forward on the prescription drug importation program. Appreciation also to the legislators who showed their support at today’s hearing in Las Vegas. Thank you for hanging tough.

Speak out for lower prescription drug costs

As posted earlier, the program to reduce perscription costs by importing FDA-approved drugs from Canada is facing opposition in the form of a narrowly-crafted Attorney General’s opinion defining “FDA-approved” as pertaining to not just the compound of the drugs, but the packaging as well. Since the drugs are packaged differently in Canada, if this opinion is heeded by the state’s Pharmacy Board, it would halt the program’s implementation.
