I received word today regarding the status of my committee requests. As a freshman, I was counseled that I might not get all (or any) of my requests. I’m pleased to report that I’ve been assigned to the following committees:
Government Affairs, M, T, W, Th, F, 8:00 a.m.
Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Mining, M, W, 1:30 p.m.
Education, M, W, 3:45 p.m.
Transportation, T, Th, 1:30 p.m.
I’ll have my hands full with four committees (most members of the Assembly typically serve on three) but know this will be a great way to learn the legislative process quickly and serve the district as effectively as possible.
UPDATE: Welcome everyone who came to this post by way of the Reno Gazette-Journal’s link. James Ball hopes that I keep using “this effective channel of communication to stay in touch.” Absolutely. I’ll be blogging regularly from Carson City to make sure the residents of District 24 are kept in the loop with all the goings on in the 2007 legislative session.

Looks like a college class schedule. When are you supposed to have time to do your day job?
Josh- I’ll be taking a four-month leave of absence from my day job to serve in Carson City.
Great assignments – commerce would have been nice for all your tech expertise, but I know you’ll bring a lot to all of your committees!
Hi David,
Congratulations on your victory. I’m proud to say I voted for you. How may I contact you now (your email outside of this blog) to address an issue of pressing importance to your/my district?
Ken- Thanks! Please send me an e-mail using this form and we can go from there.
Looking forward to chatting,
David
