News tonight on drug importation

Thanks go out tonight to the members of the State Pharmacy Board for their movement forward on the prescription drug importation program. Appreciation also to the legislators who showed their support at today’s hearing in Las Vegas. Thank you for hanging tough.

From the RGJ news story:

In a 4-2 vote, the board disregarded an opinion by Nevada Attorney General George Chanos that the wording of the legislation prevents virtually all drugs from being legally imported into the state because they are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The board will now draft regulations that ensure contracted-with Canadian pharmacies are indeed exporting drugs with the same compounds as counterpart prescriptions here in the U.S.
