As posted earlier, the program to reduce perscription costs by importing FDA-approved drugs from Canada is facing opposition in the form of a narrowly-crafted Attorney General’s opinion defining “FDA-approved” as pertaining to not just the compound of the drugs, but the packaging as well. Since the drugs are packaged differently in Canada, if this opinion is heeded by the state’s Pharmacy Board, it would halt the program’s implementation.
The program, which received wide bipartisan support in the 2005 legislative session, is an innovative approach to helping our parents and families cope with the sky-rocketing costs of perscription drugs. Join other Nevadans speaking out in support of the program going forward. Please sign the online petition for lower prescription drug costs.
Here’s some background on what’s next for the plan as the Pharmacy Board takes up the issue.
